Chupa Chups

When I saw the unusual theme of Chupa Chups at The Lollipop Ladies, I just had to enter the challenge. I was also inspired by the Photo Inspiration at The Paper Girls (below), with its overlapping circles of colors and patterns.

I've always loved the fact that one of the versions of the Chupa Chups logo was designed by Salvador Dalí, so I used that to inspire my design.
I cut the circles out of tissue paper using a Sizzix die in my Big Shot, and then ran them through my sticker machine. I stamped pattern in watermark ink on two of the circles.

The "Happy Birthday" sentiment, from a Dilo en Español stamp set, is heat-embossed in shiny blue. I generated the "Sweet Wishes" sentiment myself, using the font Dolphins. I adhered some tissue paper onto cardstock (using my trusty sticker machine, of course!), printed the sentiment on it, and then cut the shape with a die from a•muse studio's Cupcake Toppers set. The ribbon is something I've had in my stash forever.

Inspiration/Challenges:
The Lollipop Ladies Challenge #56: Chupa Chups + Curves
The Paper Girls: Photo Inspiration
Skipping Stones Challenge 150: Sketch
Stamptacular Sunday Challenge #186: No Rules! + stamping

Update: Woot! I won a Guest Designer spot at
The Lollipop Ladies for this card.

Update February 2017: The website Artsy reached out to me, asking if I would include a link to their
Salvador Dalí page. Thanks for asking, I was happy to do it! They also have a Facebook page that shares lots of great art information.

As you can tell, I had a ton of fun making this! I totally over-thought it, but I'm happy with the final result. I made it for a dear friend, the only person I know that would get the reference right away. Let me know what you think, I appreciate it. Thank you for visiting,
